Side View Of Modern House With Bright Bedroom, Blanket, Pillows

While holidays can be a stressful time of year, it’s exciting to welcome friends and family to your home once again. Here’s how to set up a guest bedroom during the holidays and make your loved ones feel at home.

Add a Holiday Touch
Place a small arrangement of holiday flowers in the guest bedroom, either fake or real, to bring life and color to the space. You can also add holiday décor to the room to hint at the season, but don’t crowd or overwhelm the guest bedroom with decorations.

Curate a Welcome Basket
The best and most practical way to set up a guest bedroom during the holidays is by curating a welcome basket. Grab a basket or bin of your choice and fill it with welcoming goodies and essentials. Here are a few essentials to include in your guest basket:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste and mouthwash
  • Hand lotion
  • Tissue box
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash for men and women
  • Razors for men and women
  • Shaving cream
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Makeup wipes
  • Facial wash

Layer Up
Make sure you give your guests all the blankets, fresh sheets, and pillows they will need. Instead of two pillows, opt for four or more. Layer the bedding with cooling soft sheets topped with a comforter and a heavy blanket on the foot of the bed. That way, your guests can layer their bedding up or down depending on the temperature.

Clean Drawers and Closets
Do a final cleaning swoop throughout the guest room before friends and family arrive. Clean out the closets and drawers to make space for their belongings, sweep the floors, and dust surfaces.
